Next year will mark Widespread Panic’s fifth time spending three March nights in the United States’ oldest city. Last year’s run came on the heels of Panic’s emotional return to the stage in Atlantic City over Valentine’s Day weekend, following guitarist Jimmy Herring‘s successful treatment for tonsil cancer.

This will mark the band’s 27th–29th all-time shows at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, following its debut at the venue with a one-off show all the way back on October 26th, 2008. At the time, it may have seemed far-fetched that St. Augustine would become an annual tradition for the band, as Panic stopped mid-“Tie Your Shoes” due to a fan altercation in the pit (with Glide Magazine later reporting somebody had thrown a beer bottle onstage and hit drummer Todd Nance).

Fast forward nearly two decades, and the St. Auggie run has become a joyous springtime tradition. In recent years, the band has included plenty of nods to Florida-born rock legend Tom Petty throughout the run. The 2024 tripleheader saw Panic encore with Petty covers all three nights (“Running Down A Dream” on Friday, “Honey Bee” on Saturday, and debuting “Room at the Top” Sunday).
