Widespread Panic bassist David Schools confirmed a forthcoming live album and studio release in an interview with The Aquarian on Monday.

“Soon, there will be one more,” Schools said when asked about the high number of official live albums the band has released throughout their storied career. “There’s a new one coming out on Record Store Day in April, it’s called Sunday Show, recorded at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester [New York] last spring.”

That’s not all, though. Schools also noted that Widespread Panic would head back to their native Athens, GA, to record a new studio album with producer John Keane in May. Keane has produced many of WSP’s albums since 1988’s Space Wrangler in addition to working with artists like R.E.M.Indigo Girls, and Matthew Sweet.

“Going to John’s place in Athens is literally like returning to the nest,” Schools said. “There’s a dynamic there and a level of respect that goes both ways, and it’s funny and fun and he can call bullshit on us and we don’t take it personally.”

Following five sold-out shows at New York City’s Beacon Theatre (2/27-3/2), WSP will take a month-long break before heading to The Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL, for a three-night run (4/2-4/4). Visit their website for more tour information.
