Fire up the Yule log: JoJo Hermann has shared three new Christmas-themed solo piano instrumentals to help ensure that the holiday spirit is widespread.
The Xmas-inspired collection incorporates musical themes and melodies from classic songs with masterful subtlety and nuance. It’s a far cry from your average department store Christmas carol medley and the perfect soundtrack for roasting chestnuts over an open fire, or whatever activities your family enjoys in the hap- happiest season of all.
Among the collection are three evocative titles, each paired with a painting or photo: “Christmas at St. Louis”, the longest of the three, hears Hermann give the holiday treatment to soaring WSP instrumental “St. Louis”; “Skating on the Pond” features a mix of classical- and blues-inspired piano; and “Snowy Bridge”, the third and shortest track, starts out dark and mysterious and builds tension before resolving on the final chord.

Widespread Panic is gearing up for a three-night New Year’s run at Fox Theatre in Atlanta.
