Late Saturday night Martin Solveig was the straw that broke Wolfgang Gartner’s back. Unleashing feelings that have clearly been building up for a long time Gartner publicly called out Solveig via Twitter for his crowd pleasing style.

Both Gartner and Solveig were featured headliners at the Neon Dance Music Festival in El Paso Texas where they preformed consecutively on the dance stage. After playing his set Gartner stuck around to listen to Solveig at which point he immediately began his slew of outraged tweets.

Essentially accusing Solveig of being too lazy to dig deeper and play tracks not on the Beatport top 10, Gartner attacked not only Solveig but any DJ who plays the most popular tracks of the moment, or the cheese as I so often hear it called. So basically in his goal to express his frustration over DJ’s taking what he sees as the easy way out Gartner has called out over half of the major names in the industry. Gartner declined to respond to any of Solveig’s answering tweets, and has so far kept to his promise that he will be taking a break from the world of Twitter.
