Renowned soul vocalist Yebba has returned with news of her long-awaited second studio album. The singer announced Jean this week and shared its lead single, “Yellow Eyes”. Named after her late grandmother, the record is set to arrive March 6th via RCA Records. Yebba also indicated she is “ready to give the road a try,” though no tour dates have been announced yet.
It’s been nearly five years since Yebba released her debut album, Dawn—a deeply personal record named after her late mother—in 2021. In the years since, she has kept a relatively low profile as a solo artist while remaining active as a collaborator. She appeared on Drake‘s Certified Lover Boy and contributed to Tyler, the Creator‘s 2025 project Don’t Tap The Glass. She has also performed alongside jazz pianist Robert Glasper, including at his 2023 Blue Note residency, cementing a reputation as one of the most compelling live vocalists working today. That reputation was on full display in a widely circulated recording of her performing Simon & Garfunkel‘s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” alongside Jacob Collier—a performance so striking it drew widespread attention even before the full version was released; Yebba notably did not take a feature credit on the track.
“Yellow Eyes” marks her return on her own terms. The track is built around acoustic guitar, warm and intimate in feel, with her vocals close and unhurried. “I wanted to experience singing in a different way than I had before,” she explained in a statement.
