The good folks of Yonder Mountain String Band have been keeping themselves busy today, with two major announcements: A new album, and an appearance at the renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. The Red Rocks show will be a performance with Greensky Bluegrass and Fruition, with all three bands bringing some bluegrass to those red rocks.

The new album will be titled Black Sheep, and will be released June 16th on the band’s own Frog Pad Records. This is the first album without Jeff Austin, but it will include Allie Kral and Jake Jolliff throughout. It was also produced by guitarist Adam Aijala, the first time a band member has taken on that role.

Bassist/vocalist Ben Kaufmann believes that “this record sounds more like Yonder than any record we’ve ever done. I’m hoping that when people are finished listening to it, they’ll just hit play and listen to it again.” The album will contain a number of new originals, including a few that have been played live, like the title track, “Annalee,” “Landfall,” and a cover of the Buzzcocks’ “Ever Fallen In Love.”

Looking forward to hearing the new Yonder material!
