For $150 a night, you can rent the LA apartment where Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain resided from ’91-’92. The home, now listed on Airbnb, is the place where Love was pregnant with their daughter Frances Bean. Cobain is also said to have written “Heart-Shaped Box” there.

Frances Bean Talks About Kurt Cobain for the First Time

Tenant Brandon Kleinman says there hasn’t been much interest in the listing, though it’s been up there for a couple of years and advertised as “Kurt Cobain’s Private 1b + 1bh.” “It gets rented out about four or five times a year,” he said. “I think Airbnb buried the listing for some reason and I don’t get a lot of interest in it.”

The apartment, located on Spaulding Ave. in LA’s Fairfax district, was not initially advertised as Cobain’s residence. “The day I signed the lease, I was sitting with the landlord,” Kleinman told Vulture, “and as soon as I signed on the dotted line, he said, ‘Okay, now I can tell you the real story behind this apartment.’ He kept it a secret because he wasn’t getting great tenants when he advertised the apartment’s backstory. He went on to tell me about what it was like having Kurt Cobain live here, and what to watch for. It’s been funny. Once every 60 days or so, I’ll get a weird, older gentleman, a rocker-type dude, sort of a burnout, knocking on the door, saying, ‘Do you know what used to happen here?’”

Kleinman also notes that he’d like to strip down the paint around the place to try and uncover Cobain’s works of art. Kurt loved painting on his walls at that time, even skipping out on touring in Nirvana’s heyday to continue express his artistic side. (And do a lot of heroin).

The first official Kurt Cobain documentary, Montage of Heck, comes out May 4 on HBO and at the Tribeca Film Festival.
