Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has discussed his intent to release a solo album and to tour next year. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Gilmour discussed the upcoming Pink Floyd release Endless River, but also revealed his solo ambitions. This album would be a follow-up to Gilmour’s 2006 release, On An Island.

Discussing his plans, Gilmour said:

“It’s coming along very well. There are some sketches that aren’t finished, and some of them will be started again. There’s a few months’ work in it yet. I’m hoping to get it out this following year. Then I’m hoping to do an old man’s tour, not a 200-date sort of thing.”

He continued, saying that venues like Radio City Music Hall would suit the “old man’s tour” vibe.

While Gilmour’s album is certainly something to look forward to, the big news in the Pink Floyd community is, of course, Endless River. Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason said that the album will be the final Pink Floyd release, and that the band will not be touring (More about that here).

Endless River is due out on November 10th.
