Last night, Phish bassist Mike Gordon returned to his familiar stomping grounds of Burlington, VT for his second of two performances at Higher Ground to close out his early-2018 solo tour. Being that the show took place in the birthplace of his other band, Gordon marked the occasion by welcoming Phish keyboardist Page McConnell.

During the show, Page joined Mike and his band–comprised of guitarist Scott Murawski, keyboardist Robert Walter, drummer John Kimock, and percussionist Craig Myers–for an extended jam on Phish’s “Destiny Unbound”, a tune that’s been a staple of Gordon’s solo shows of late but remains a rarity at Phish shows.

Local pedal steel guitarist Brett Lanier also sat in with the group along with McConnell at Higher Ground, according to a photo posted on Mike Gordon’s Facebook. However, since he’s not featured in the video for “Destiny Unbound”, we can assume that he joined the party at a different point in the night (and that McConnell stayed onstage for more than just the one tune).

We’ll keep you updated with a setlist and more information about Page McConnell’s sit-in with Mike Gordon in Burlington as soon as they become available. For now, check crowd-shot footage of the Phishy collaboration in Burlington below:
