Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the world-famous New OrleansJazz & Heritage Festival returned to the Fair Grounds Race Course over the weekend. Weekend one spanned from Thursday, April 25th through Sunday, April 28th, with another weekend of music slated to go down this upcoming Thursday, May 2nd through Sunday, May 5th. Of course, there is a plethora of additional late-night musical performances and parties throughout the entirety of the multi-week event.
Jazz Fest After Dark: L4LM Top Picks
Jazz Fest’s weekend one saw music performances by Santana, Katy Perry, Van Morrison, Foundation of Funk, The Revivalists, Leon Bridges, Al Green, Bonnie Raitt, and many more. During Santana’s headlining set on Friday, the iconic guitarist welcomed Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews for a number of tunes including “Fever,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child” and Swamp Dogg’s “Total Destruction to Your Mind.” The following night, Saturday, during Katy Perry’s headlining set, the Grammy Award-winning pop vocalist invited up The Soul Rebels brass band to assist on her hit “Chained to the Rhythm”
Weekend two of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival features performances from Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Chris Stapleton, Gary Clark Jr., Kamasi Washington, Dianna Ross, Galactic, John Fogerty, Jimmy Buffet & The Coral Reefer Band, and many more.
