Funk guitarist, composer, and producer Cory Wong released his fourth studio album, Elevator Music for an Elevated Mood, on Friday.

Wong’s fourth studio album in four years contains 11 songs, all written by Wong himself. Elevator Music for an Elevated Mood highlights his songwriting ability, as well as his ability to interweave several musical styles. The multi-platinum-selling saxophonist Dave Koz, singer-songwriter Phoebe Katis, and jazz singer Rachel Mazer all made appearances on the album along with Cody Fry.
Additionally, the album is a continuation of Wong’s Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul, which was released in 2019. In a statement, he explained:
These two records pair well for me, and I had them both in mind when I started this whole project. As an artist of a guitar-forward project, it’s fun for me to think of new and exciting ways to share my voice as an artist and instrumentalist. The collaborations on these two albums help me to really show different sides of my musical influences and expressions. I love having albums that have half instrumental tunes, and half “songs”. It’s the kind of album that I like listening to. This release sparks the second half of this album cycle and is a fun way to make my opening statement into the next decade!
