In the description for the video, posted to the band’s Facebook page, Star Kitchen notes that the band came together in the studio to record some new music, a first for the supergroup comprised of Marc Brownstein (The Disco Biscuits), Danny Mayer (Eric Krasno Band), Rob Marscher (Matisyahu), and Marlon Lewis (Lauryn Hill, John Legend). Unfortunately, the band also noted that audiences won’t get a chance to hear the new material for several more months.
We went into Color Red Music Studios last week to write and record some original music from scratch. We can’t wait to share those tracks with you in Spring/Summer 2020! While we were there, we also recorded a few live takes straight to tape of our favorite covers. Here we are running through “September 13” by Eumir Deodato and Billy Cobham. Thanks Color Red!

The video also sees a healthy Marc Brownstein, who was hospitalized for an ocular emergency after his retina detached while on Jam Cruise. The Disco Biscuits were forced to postpone the four remaining shows on their mammoth winter tour as Brownstein underwent surgery. Earlier this month, however, Brownstein made his triumphant return to the stage at Denver Comes Alive, where Star Kitchen performed with special guests Nick Gerlach, Gabe Mervine, and Borham Lee. Other than some slight squinting, Browsnstein appears to be as good as new in the “September 13” video.
Star Kitchen doesn’t have any upcoming concerts scheduled, but stay tuned to the band’s Facebook page for up-to-date information.
