Metallica has joined in on the growing list of artists who are streaming old performances in hopes of keeping their fans engaged and entertained while many around the world find themselves stuck inside under quarantine for the foreseeable future. On Monday, the famous thrash metal band announced their new “Metallica Mondays” video initiative, where fans can tune in to Metallica’s Facebook and YouTube pages to watch pro-shot footage of past concerts.

The first performance shared with the announcement on Monday was their June 8th, 2019 show at Slane Castle in Ireland. News of the video initiative comes just a few weeks after Metallica announced the launch of their first-ever vinyl subscription program this month.

“While we’re all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music, so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance?” the band mentioned in a statement. “Not to sound too cheesy, but now more than ever, we’re in this together, and staying connected is how we’ll get through it. With that in mind, we’re bringing a series of Live Metallica shows right to your couch!”

Metallica also announced on Monday that their upcoming run of shows in South America with Greta Van Fleet scheduled for April has been moved to December, although there will be some updates in terms of the venues and dates, and info will be shared soon. They also announced that, although they initially canceled their scheduled headlining appearance at Louder Than Life (September 18th-20th) last month, a new date has been added (September 17th) to allow Metallica to still join in on the hard rock event.
