Live Nation will turn some of its indoor concert venues which have gone unused since March into polling locations ahead of the November elections, a report shared by USA Today reveals.

The concert and live events promoter will reportedly convert venues including the Wiltern and Hollywood Palladium (Los Angeles), the Fillmore (Philadelphia), Buckhead Theatre (Atlanta), and Emo’s (Austin) into state-sanctioned voting sites. More venues will also be vetted to be added to the list closer to election day on November 3rd. Additionally, Live Nation will also offer any of its remaining active employees a paid day off on November 3rd to serve at voting precincts.

“One of the things we kept hearing, because the pandemic is going on, was that a lot of smaller (polling places) would not be made available for voting,” Tom See, Live Nation COO said with the report. “We said: ‘Wait a second, we’ve got 100-plus large locations across the country sitting empty right now. Why not offer them up as places for people to vote?’ That was the impetus — to solve a need.”

“Live Nation has stepped up to the mic in providing our community safe in-person voting experiences at two iconic music venues,” Dean Logan, Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk also added. “It is collaborations such as this that demonstrate the spirit of community engagement and the strength of our democracy.”

Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, has teamed with NBA star LeBron James’ group, More Than a Vote, which has successfully enlisted more than 20 sports arenas in a similar campaign following NBA players’ wildcat strike in August in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, WI on August 23rd.

Other members of the music community who are making a point to get Americans to actually show up and vote this time around include HeadCount and Global Citizen, Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder, My Morning Jacket, and more.
