Khruangbin has further expanded its influences by inviting a host of artists to reimagine the group’s latest album with Mordechai Remixes. The ten-track re-examination of the band’s 2020 studio release is set to arrive digitally on August 6th via Dead Oceans in association with Night Time Stories, Ltd.

Though the artists on Mordechai Remixes may not be household names (yet), they all have a special connection to Khruangbin. Kadhja Bonet, who sings on “Father, Mother Bird”, was a fan, as was house legend Ron Trent. Harvey Sutherland and Ginger Roots have both toured with the Khruangbin, Anderson .Paak and NxWorries.

Collaborator Knxwledge sampled “White Gloves” on a mixtape, Natasha Diggs and Soul Clap are recent friends of the band, Quantic is a mutual friend of Bonobo who shined an early light on Kbin with a LateNightTales compilation in 2013, Lee is godmother to one of Felix Dickinson’s kids and Bill Brewster, one half of the DJ duo Mang Dynasty, has known Lee for years. Plus, Brewster wrote the album’s inner sleeve gatefold notes.

“We write our music to be interpreted; this is another wonderful interpretation of the music,” the band said in a statement. “There is something very vulnerable about letting others work on your music. But through the correspondence with the different artists, we gained a bigger connection to the songs themselves.”

Along with today’s announcement, Khruangbin has shared Quantic’s “Pelota (Cut A Rug Mix)”. Physical copies of Mordechai Remixes are out on October 29th and are available here to pre-order.
