Big Something has released a new live album, Escape From The Living Room. The nine-track compilation hosts the best of a 12-month period of concerts, offering a time capsule of mid through post-lockdown.
Taken from the name of the band’s quarantine livestream series and upcoming tour, Escape From The Living Room stretches back to July 31st, 2020 from a fan-less webcast at Ovation Sound in Winston Salem, NC. The album also features recordings from frontman Nick MacDaniels‘ house where the band staged a number of streams.
Escape From The Living Room also captures Big Something emerging from quarantine to play some of its first shows. These include a drive-in show on May 30th, 2020 at Brown’s Island in Richmond, VA, represented by “Megalodon” and “Timebomb”, the latter featuring a guest sit-in from Leo P (Too Many Zooz) on saxophone. The live album also contains tracks from the band’s first in-person, festival appearance post-lockdown at Mountain Music Festival in Oak Hill, WV on June 5th, 2021. The show saw the band debut the original “Bob & Weave”.
“That was a really special show,” Nick MacDaniels said of Mountain Music Festival. “That was the first moment in front of a large audience since the pandemic began where I think we really felt some light at the end of the tunnel as a band and crew. And I think everyone in the audience there was collectively feeling the same thing after over a year of no shows. The energy was unbelievable. Live music can be such a powerful healing force for both those who experience it and those who make it and it was obvious we all really needed it that night.”
