Phish‘s annual Labor Day weekend run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is something of an unofficial holiday in the Denver, CO area. Whether it’s bars and restaurants putting out Phish-y specials for the leagues of traveling fans or the many after shows that pop up throughout the city, the holiday weekend is a magical time of year in the Mile High City.
Among the grilled cheeses, Jerry Rolls™, and baklava on lot this weekend you might just see local Phish fan and String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth playing the accordion. In an amusing video posted to social media, the jubilant multi-instrumentalist jokes that he will be on Phish lot this weekend as he rifles through a variety of Polka-Phish remixes like a regular “Weird” Al Yankovic including “Farmhouse”, “Sample In A Jar”, “First Tube”, and “Bouncing Around The Room”. Hollingsworth is gearing up for the 2022 edition of Kyle’s Brew Fest, set to occur on September 9th at Wibby Brewing in Longmont, CO. In addition to a performance from his eponymous solo band, the craft beer-centric fundraiser for Conscious Alliance will feature a set from Steely Dead. Next Friday will mark the annual event’s debut at Wibby Brewing.

Following Phish’s show tonight, September 2nd, at Dick’s, an all-star amalgamation of funk players will keep the party going at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom for Purple Party: A Tribute To Prince featuring members of The Motet, Trey Anastasio Band, The Nth Power, John Mayer/D’Angelo‘s bands, former members of Turkuaz, and more, with rising jam band Dogs In A Pile playing on the Other Side.
