Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro announced on Thursday that he will miss his band’s upcoming tour with The Smashing Pumpkins as he continues to treat lingering COVID symptoms. The Spirits On Fire Tour will still go on as planned with Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age, Eagles Of Death Metal) subbing in on guitar.
In a note posted to social media on Thursday night, Navarro revealed that he has been battling post-COVID symptoms, or long COVID, since December. Navarro lamented his absence from the upcoming arena tour, set to begin on Sunday in Dallas, especially in light of original bassist Eric Avery‘s return to the lineup. The guitarist offered a silver lining, for while Jane’s Addiction is out touring Navarro will be at work in the studio working on new material for the band.
“I truly wish the band well on this tour and I am confident they will bring everything to make it a fabulous show! Go get em guys!” Navarro wrote. “Maybe I can get to a show one night and watch my own band for the first time ever.”
