Goose surprised fans on Friday morning with the release of a new EP, Undecided, comprised of four fan-favorite live tunes recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2022 LP, Dripfield. The EP, released via No Coincidence Records, is now available on streaming services, with a limited-edition vinyl release scheduled for Friday, January 13, 2023.

Produced and engineered by D. James Goodwin (Bob Weir, Kevin Morby) at The ISOKON in Woodstock, NY, the EP collects four staples of Goose’s lauded live shows and reimagines them for the studio. “These four songs have been around for a long time,” explained Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar). “We’ve performed different versions over the years and we wanted to capture them in a new and exciting way.”
“All I Need”, “Tumble”, and “Undecided” (known to Goose fans by its colloquial title, “Bob Don”) were penned by Mitarotonda when he was a teenager. Reflecting on the new title of the song, Mitarotonda noted, “I wrote [‘Bob Don’] when I was 14, and, actually, it was originally titled ‘Undecided.’ We started calling it ‘Bob Don’ because we thought it was funny.”
Rounding out the tracklist is “Elizabeth,” an upbeat track written by Peter Anspach (vocals, guitar, keys). The song’s lyrics ponder the future in the aftermath of heartbreak in an unusually positive light. “I wrote the lyrics as a reminder to myself to consider who and what else is out there,” said Anspach. “Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up thinking whomever you lost was the only one for you, but you never know who else is waiting for you to come along.”
Undecided arrives mere hours after Goose’s latest high-profile live collaboration. On Thursday evening, the band’s co-headlining tour with Trey Anastasio Band crossed paths with bluegrass picker Billy Strings in Fairfax, VA to thrilling effect.
