This weekend, Twiddle is winding down a nearly year-long farewell tour with a special three-night edition of the band’s annual Frendsgiving engagement. The Capitol Theatre takeover in Port Chester, NY will precede an indefinite hiatus beginning after the final show tonight, November 26th. But before Twiddle says goodbye, the band took the opportunity to jam with old friends Kitchen Dwellers at the second show on Saturday.

Singer/guitarist Mihali Savoulidis, keyboardist Ryan Dempsey, bassist Zdenek Gubb, and drummer Adrian Tramontano came sprinting out of the gate with an incendiary “Nicodemus Portulay” characterized by ferocious guitar playing and continually escalating peaks. “Portulay” never broke its stride and ultimately transitioned into “Indigo Trigger” after nearly 15 minutes. The first set saw the men of Twiddle perform unassisted, playing favorites like “Fantastic Tale of Ricky Snickle”, a “Mamunes the Faun” sandwiched between two halves of “Every Soul”, and a set-closing “Beethoven & Greene”.

Returning for the second frame, Twiddle kicked things off with yet another jam sandwich as the opening “White Light” took a detour to ALO‘s “BBQ” before a “White Light” reprisal. The parade of special guests then began as Kitchen Dwellers banjoist Torrin Daniels and mandolinist Shawn Swain joined in for The Beatles‘ “Rocky Racoon”. Daniels stuck around to pick a while longer on Twiddle’s “Subconscious Prelude”, with frequent collaborator Mike Oehmen subbing in to add his sax to “Polluted Beauty” and “Lost in the Cold” before Twiddle closed the set as a quartet with “Slippin in the Kitchen”.

Back for the encore, Twiddle returned with some extra enforcement alongside Torrin, Swain, KD bassist Joe Funk, and Onehmen. A jam on Talking Heads‘ “Burning Down The House” soon caught fire, with Dempsey escaping the flames by crowd surfing to the back of the venue while Mihali’s solo band keyboardist Scott Hannay filled in until he got back. The superjam did as promised and brought down the house to close the book on the penultimate Frendsgiving show.
