Rubblebucket‘s singer Kalmia Traver has officially announced that she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In a note addressed to fans via Facebook Kalmia writes:
Dear World, friends and fans and people I love,
I want to share with you the news that shocked my world about a month ago: I found out that I have ovarian cancer. The doctors found a malignant tumor during a surgery to remove what they thought was a totally normal cyst for a woman my age. It was caught very early, and as of now there are no other signs of cancer in my body, so it’s looking promising that I’ll be totally ok. We’ll know much more after my surgery July 26th.
What does this mean for us? Well, we get to go through this all together. It’s gonna get crazy! When doesn’t it? Needless to say there will be some very real and challenging moments ahead. We’ve decided we want to keep truckin all fall, recording and playing shows. I will be counting on ALL OF YOU to be my love line, my support group and inspirations (as always). I’ll be updating, and if anybody wants to reach out to me directly, feel free to email me at cherryfeatherthugkalmiawcancer@gmail.com. I’d be extremely grateful for your ideas, prayers, thoughts, reiki love, sharing your own stories of cancer, shrines (look at this one my dad made!!!!!!) etc. And most importantly I ask that you all take care of yourselves! Love your mind-spirit-bodies, be healthy, get checkups, eat well, laugh a lot, be kind to each other, be kind to this earth that we are made of.
Love, Kalmia
The band has cancelled two of the three upcoming tour dates, but you can still catch their incredibly entertaining performance on August 31st at the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover in Troy, Ohio.
From all of us at Live for Live Music we wish Kalmia a full and speedy recovery.
