Toyesauce is back with a hard-hitting new instrumental, “The Burglar”.

Composed by Austin guitarist Kevin McKinney of the band Soulhat, the latest release from the innovative and collaborative studio project led by Nashville guitarist Leon Toye is an electrifying fusion of raw aggression and progressive finesse. Fuzzed-out guitar tones and a deep, punch-packing groove propel the song forward, anchored by Nashville bassist Kenny Jackson and New Orleans drummer Terrence Houston (George Porter Jr. Trio). Houston’s explosive drumming fuels the funk-driven fire, while each guitarist dials up the heat with a scorching solo.

As with previous Toyesauce releases, each musician recorded their part remotely, but you’d never guess it based on their locked-in chemistry. Though brimming with raw energy, the track sparkles thanks to Toye’s meticulous production, with mixing and mastering by New Orleans’ Eric Heigle and Nashville’s Tommy Dorcey.

“‘The Burglar’ is an unreleased gem from Kevin’s vast songwriting catalog,” Toye said. “When Kevin shared this powerful composition, I knew we had to honor its Soulhat origins while bringing our own energy to it. It’s a privilege to finally share this song with the world, and we’re grateful to Kevin and the Soulhat legacy for trusting us with this piece of Austin music history.”
