Colorado’s own Eufórquestra recently played a free outdoor show as part of CSU‘s (Colorado State University) Lagoon Series. The show was also part of the nearby Mishawaka Amphitheatre‘s 100th Anniversary, and a performance that helped benefit Habitat for Humanity‘s local chapter and The House That Beer Built which seeks to provide simple, decent and affordable housing to individuals and families. There is nothing like good music for a good cause, which is quite abundant in the Colorado scene.
Eufórquestra played a two-set show to a couple of thousand in attendance, and played their unique blend of funk/soul/afrobeat/reggae to a fully engaged crowd, which didn’t stop dancing from beginning to end. Their performance included tracks from their Kyle Hollingsworth (String Cheese Incident) produced 2014 album Fire, such as “64-18”, “Price Is Right”, and “All The Light”, the latter of which definitely featured that dub-inspired sound (check out video below).
Eufórquestra, Sam Bush, The Motet & More Announced On Camp Euforia’s Lineup
The super funky “That Woman”, which features a drum track created by Soulive/KDTU drummer Alan Evans, was definitely a highlight of the evening, with guitarist Mike Tallman letting things rip on a hot solo. When asked about the creating of the track, which was offered up online by Evans as a “Free Funk Friday” track, Tallman explained “I’ve been a fan of Alan’s work for a long time, so when he released this groove online I immediately jumped at the opportunity to develop it into a Eufórquestra song.” The song is available on iTunes and on 7″ vinyl HERE.
The group finished up the performance with “Backbone” off of 2009’s Soup, and a dubbed-out encore of “Called You” from the same album. Eufórquestra will host their Camp Euforia festival in Lone Tree, IA this weekend (July 14-16) which will see sets from The Motet, Sam Bush, The Travelin’ McCoury‘s and more.
