In addition to Smashing Pumpkins‘ upcoming reunion tour, the newly reunited band is putting the finishing touches on 8 new songs, explains Billy Corgan in an Instagram. The band plans to release the new material as two separate EPs, with the first taste coming in May. You can read the full post below:

In the opening weeks of this year, Smashing Pumpkins began formally teasing the idea of a reunion. In early February, the band launched an official countdown clock, with many speculating that the clock was counting down to the new tour’s announcement. Though much of that ensuing week was marred by the ugly back-and-forth between frontman Billy Corgan and original bassist D’arcy Wretzky, who has informed a number of outlets that she was purposefully excluded from the reunion, the band eventually announced its “Shiny And Oh So Bright” reunion tour.

In the post, Corgan hints at a “long-ranging interview with the NYT, which given the questions asked will address many of the things we get asked about.” This likely refers to the ongoing drama regarding Wretzky’s inclusion in the Smashing Pumpkins reunion. While Wretzky claims to have been uninvited from participating, the other three members denied that was the case, releasing a statement insisting that Darcy had “repeatedly been invited out to play with the group, participate in demo sessions, or at the very least, meet face-to-face, and in each and every instance she always deferred.”
