This coming Saturday, February 10th, the Kalamazoo Wings will square off against the Indy Fuel in a mid-level minor league hockey game at the Wings’ home arena, Kalamazoo, MI’s Wings Event Center. Incidentally, this past weekend, the prog-rockers of Umphrey’s McGee laid out a fiery two-night run at the same venue.

Saturday’s game has been officially designated as “Grateful Dead Night” by the team, and the Kalamazoo Wings have just released images of the Grateful Dead-inspired jerseys they’ll wear for the occasion. The jerseys feature rainbow-hued tie-dye ornaments as well some of the band’s most iconic imagery, like the dancing bears and a 13-point lightning bolt. The stereotypical psychedelic 60’s “hippie” typeface is used to spell out the players’ names and numbers on the backs of the jerseys, and the team’s logo on the front of the shirts is now bound by the Dead’s famous “Steal Your Face” logo.

As noted by JamBase, back in September, the Kalamazoo Wings (of the ECHL) announced this special theme night. Fans in attendance can expect to see the home team repping the special jerseys and hear tracks from the Grateful Dead throughout the night on the arena’s sound system. Attendees will also get the chance to win their own special jerseys during an auction after the game. You can purchase tickets for the Kalamazoo Wing’s Grateful Dead Night game here.
