Amanda Shires takes viewers backstage at the famed Ryman Auditorium in a new performance video of “Home To Me“. The track comes from the singer-songwriter’s new Christmas album, For Christmas, and features her husband and 400 Unit bandmate Jason Isbell.

For Christmas marked Shires’ first crack at a holiday album and saw her bring to it the same bittersweet lyricism that permeates the rest of her catalog. Gone are any of the Hallmark holiday sentiments. Instead, listeners are delivered contemplations on the harsh realities that Christmas represents for many such as loneliness. In “Home To Me”, we wait alongside Shires for that ever-elusive holiday visitor. Probably not the song to put on at the family Christmas party.

Amanda Shires – “Home To Me” (ft. Jason Isbell)

“Home To Me” Lyrics

You said there’s ice on the runway,
Ice on the wings,
There’s ice everywhere,
And nothing can bring you
Home to me, home to me, home to me.
I don’t want to talk. It’s too cold to walk.
I keep looking for you—
All I find is frost.
Come home to me, home to me,
Home to me, please, come home.
I’m tired of the moon,
And keeping my own company,
Tired of the dark and her night
Full of brittle stars.
You wander like a weed.
I wonder what you see.
I wonder what you’re thinking
And if you’ll ever be
Coming home to me.
