A star-studded group of musicians joined DJ Logic & Friends during the third night of their four-night, eight-show run at New York, NY’s Blue Note. The collaboration came on Saturday night and included the likes of JoJo Hermann,  Anderson .Paak, and more.

Billed as DJ Logic & Friends featuring Karl Denson, MonoNeon, and Adam Deitch, the Saturday night show had enough star power for a large theatre, let alone the intimate Greenwich Village club. Throughout the two Saturday performances, a group of collaborators rotated in and out. At times it was legendary trombonist Fred Wesley, who cut his teeth working with James Brown in the 1960s and 1970s before linking up with Parliament-Funkadelic. Other times it was JoJo Hermann, another master of his craft known for his work with Widespread Panic, who joined in throughout the weekend.

The biggest surprise of the night, of course, was the arrival of Anderson .Paak, who took a seat behind Deitch’s drum kit. Wesley looked on in wonder as the esteemed solo artist and—one-half of super-duo Silk Sonic—found a pocket with MonoNeon, creating space for Maurice Brown to show off his skills on the trumpet.

One of the world’s premier jazz clubs, Blue Note has hosted no shortage of epic collaborations. Last year alone saw Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock join Robert Glasper during his 66-show Robtober Blue Note residency. Ghost-Note hosted a set of shows at the iconic jazz club as well, welcoming Louis Cato, Casey Benjamin, and more throughout the two-night, four-set run.
