Live music television program Austin City Limits has announced the first batch of guests for its Season 45 tapings this spring.
ACL’s first guest of the year will be rising country star Kane Brown on March 3rd; followed by Austin native blues-rock guitarist Gary Clark Jr. (March 5th); New Orleans rock octet The Revivalists (April 9th); and North Carolina alternative rockers Rainbow Kitten Surprise on May 6th. The tapings will mark The Revivalists and Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s Austin City Limits debuts, with Clark having two headlining performances on the program under his belt.
Clark’s most recent ACL appearance aired during a special New Year’s Eve broadcast–“Hall Of Fame New Year’s Special”–filmed live on October 25th, 2019, and was hosted by Chris Isaak on PBS. A highlight of the show featured Clark’s rendition of “Night Time Is The Right Time”, the rhythm and blues tune made famous by Ray Charles. Clark’s rendition of “Night Time Is The Right Time” found him backed by the ACL house band as well as vocalists Ruthie Foster, Carolyn Wonderland, and Shelley King. Robert Randolph, Boz Scaggs, Norah Jones, and Irma Thomas also appeared on the ACL special, which paid tribute to Los Lobos and Marcia Ball.
