Bill & Ted 3 Soundtrack Features New Music By Weezer, Mastodon And, Obviously, Wyld Stallyns [Listen]

Yes way, dudes! Today, the long-awaited third installment of the Bill & Ted film franchise, Bill & Ted Face The Music, hits theaters and VOD platforms. In addition to the release of the film, L.A.-based independent record label 10K Projects has released the official Bill & Ted Face The Music soundtrack featuring new songs from a slew of rock acts like Mastodon, FIDLAR, Weezer. Big Black Delta, Lamb of God and, of course… Wyld Stallyns!

For those unfamiliar, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) follows a pair of air-headed aspiring musicians—Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Winter) and Ted “Theodore” Logan (Reeves)—whose band, Wyld Stallyns (pronounced “Wild Stallions”), faces certain doom if they can’t pass their History final. However, in the future, Wyld Stallyns have saved humanity as the greatest band of all time, so an ambassador from the future (played by the late George Carlin) heads back to 1989 to lend Bill and Ted a time-traveling telephone booth to help the would-be rock and roll saviors with their report. Shenanigans—and an endless supply of quotable lines—ensue. The sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991), continued the pair’s high-concept sci-fi hijinx. Since ’91, however, we haven’t heard from Bill and Ted.

The Bill & Ted Face The Music soundtrack includes the first official releases for the once-fictional Wyld Stallyns. The two Wyld Stallyns tracks include titular “Face The Music” (a gleaming hair metal track performed along with Animals As Leaders and Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah) and the disorienting “That Which Binds Us Through Time: The Chemical, Physical And Biological Nature Of Love; An Exploration Of The Meaning Of Meaning, Part 1”. Doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, but it’s supposed to be all the rage in the future…
