Wanee Music Festival brought music of the Grateful Dead to Spirit of the Suwanee over the weekend, featuring drummer Bill Kreutzmann, bassist Reed Mathis, keyboard player Aron Magner, and guitarist Tom Hamilton. For the third show of their run, the band welcomed fellow Lettuce/Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno, who delivered his great guitar work and vocals, to the entire set. Warren Haynes also joined in on the fun, for a “Deal” closer, just minutes before his Gov’t Mule took the same stage.

The set opened with a “Shakedown Street” > “Dear Prudence” medley, before taking “Me and My Uncle” by storm. The “Cassidy” > “Playing In The Band” found Krasno on vocals, and brought a refreshing drizzle of rain from the sky, as if the universe had rehearsed such timing perfectly. An energy-shifting “Scarlet Begonias” brought fans’ arms to the sky for the traditional chants before the sunlight returned for “Stella Blue” and “Uncle John’s Band.” Warren Haynes joined in for “Deal” and the set concluded, before Gov’t Mule took the stage for a sunset performance.
