A few weeks ago, Billboard broke the rumor that John Mayer may be touring with members of the Grateful Dead, including Bob Weir, this fall. While the two certainly made good jamming buddies when Mayer was the interim host of The Late Late Show, as of now, Weir has nothing to say on the matter.

The Dead guitarist was on hand for the band’s induction into the Madison Square Garden Walk of Fame, and Relix had the opportunity to ask him about the potential collaboration. He simply responded, “there’s nothing I can say about that right now.” The two were photographed with Phish bassist Mike Gordon not too long ago (see photo above).

Meanwhile, he and Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann talked about the upcoming “Fare Thee Well” reunion shows. Weir said, “We’ve been having little get togethers. The whole thing hasn’t come together yet, but it will soon.”

Kreutzmann also addressed his own practice regimen, saying “I go through and I pick out songs that are harder than other songs and I just learn those. I take them home, put on ear phones at my drum set at my little studio at home. Then sit and go over until I’ve got them again. See if you don’t play music—not matter how you used to play—if you haven’t played it for a long time, you have to go over it. It’s not like riding a bike.”

Kreutzmann also talked about Billy & The Kids and Voodoo Dead, saying he “wants to work with [them] as much a possible.”

The two also addressed their story-telling projects, with Weir mentioning his soon-to-be released documentary and Kreutzmann discussing the triumph of writing his own biography, Deal: My Three Decades of Drumming, Dreams and Drugs with the Grateful Dead.
