Austin-based rock outfit The Bright Light Social Hour has announced a new studio album, Jude Vol. II, the follow-up to 2019’s Jude Vol. 1. The album is set to arrive on vinyl, CD, and digital formats on August 28th via Roll Call Records. Thee first 100 vinyl pre-orders will arrive on a limited edition translucent baby blue LP.
The forthcoming album, which was produced by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), will include the previously-released “Feel U Deep”, which arrived last month, and the new single, “Enough”, which was shared with Wednesday’s announcement. Additionally, the four-piece psychedelic rock group will preview the album’s August arrival with a multi-camera, pro-shot performance to take place at Austin’s The Oven on July 30th at 7 p.m. CST.
“Curtis [Roush] and I wrote this one in a day. We were talking about how, as men, we’re conditioned to fear commitment and vulnerability,” bassist/singer Jackie O’Brien told Earmilk with the new single. “We feel overwhelming love but enter relationships tepidly, asking, ‘could you be enough for me?’ when we should be asking, ‘could I be enough for me?’ To me, the upcoming record is a celebration of the profound joy on the other side of terrible loss (in this case the loss of my brother/our manager), and this song is the pinnacle of that joy. It celebrates love and vulnerability as an act of rebellion against toxic masculinity, that you can change the world by feeling your own fucking feelings.”
