Circles Around The Sun has experimented with various guitarist since founder Neal Casal‘s suicide in 2019. In addition to Metzger, the band has since performed with Eric Krasno on guitar.

As keyboardist Adam MacDougall told Live For Live Music in a 2019 interview, “As long as the person has a strong voice and is confident in what they do and great at what they do, then it could be anybody. Could be a horn player. Could be a keyboard player. Could be anything. It’s never going to be Neal, Mark, Dan and me—the band that it was—[so] we may as well play around with it.”
