David Shaw celebrated the release of his self-titled debut solo album on Friday via his own imprint Yokoko Records in partnership with C3 Records. The Revivalists frontman is set to continue the celebration tonight, May 7th with the first in a series of five livestream performances.
Featuring previously released singles “Got Me Feeling Good”, “Heavy Soul”, “Shivers”, “Shaken“, and “Promised Land“, Shaw had already garnered over three million streams ahead of David Shaw‘s release. The platinum-selling singer, songwriter, and producer recruited four-time Grammy-winning producer Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, Solange, St Paul and The Broken Bones) to craft a product that showcases Shaw as an individual, rather than just the frontman of a rock band.
“From the beginning, the making of this album was all about self-exploration and the joys that come from leaning into my own inner compass and pushing myself in ways that I never had before,” Shaw said in a statement. “I’m learning so much about who I’m becoming by letting the music guide the way.”

Shaw will celebrate his latest achievement by kicking off a five-night livestream series tonight, May 7th, at 9 p.m. ET. Broadcast via Mandolin from Chicago’s The Metro, the concert will see Shaw perform with his live band for the first time. The next four weeks of shows will allow Shaw mine his solo catalog with songs from the album, deep cuts, acoustic versions, and more from a different location every Friday. May 14th will see him at Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, LA; May 21st in Shaw’s hometown of Hamilton, OH for the 10th anniversary of RiversEdge, which will also include a limited in-person audience; May 28th from a secret location in New Orleans; and concluding back in Chicago on June 4th.
Along with the release of the album, Shaw has also announced five custom wrapped D’Angelico Excel DC Guitar NFT’s (non-fungible tokens) via Fanaply that will include 3D digital renderings accompanied by the physical guitar featuring David Shaw artwork. Additional limited-edition items are available including album cover art designed by Mike Tallman of Add Noise Studios and custom tarot card art for each song on the album by artist Priscilla Frank. The NFTs are available for purchase here.
