The Del McCoury Band returned on Friday with “Honky Tonk Nights”, the latest single from Almost Proud. The new album from the bluegrass torchbearer is out on February 18th via McCoury Music.
On Almost Proud, Del taps into the salt-of-the-earth style deeply embedded into mountain music. The 82-year-old musician offers songs for the working man, a tribute to his wife of 57 years, and even a few whiskey drinkin’ numbers. Fellow Nashville mainstay and Del’s old friend Vince Gill joins him on this firebrand of a track, which premiered via The Bluegrass Situation earlier this week.
“I love singing with Vince,” Del told The Bluegrass Situation. “We’ve done a lot through the years but this is the first time I’ve found the perfect song to have him on my album. I am thrilled with how this song turned out and grateful to Vince for his friendship and his love and support of bluegrass.”
