Eric Clapton got some help from his friends Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi when he headlined Greenwich, CT’s annual Town Party festival on Saturday evening. The husband-and-wife duo joined the legendary guitarist for an encore rendition of Robert Johnson‘s early blues classic “Crossroads” to close out the night on the event’s main stage, rounding out a show that also included covers of Muddy Waters‘ “I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man”, Jimmy Cox‘s “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out”, Bob Marley‘s “I Shot The Sheriff”, and JJ Cale‘s “Cocaine”.
Last night’s concert marked the latest collaboration between Clapton, Trucks, and Tedeschi, who have performed together on a few occasions, most notably during past editions of Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival and during one of the Allman Brothers Band‘s 2009 shows at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. In addition to a number of Clapton’s cover staples, the concert featured original favorites from the guitarist’s many different projects, such as Cream’s “White Room”, Derek and the Dominoes’ “Layla”, and the solo hits “Tears in Heaven” and “Wonderful Tonight”.

Derek and Susan were at the Greenwich Town Party with their own Tedeschi Trucks Band, who played a set earlier in the day. Yesterday’s lineup also included sets from Preservation Hall Band, Trout Steak Revival, and Charlie Scopoletti & The Truth.
