Monsters of progressive jam rock Dopapod and TAUK will hit the road this October for 13 co-headlining dates throughout the Midwest. The stretch of shows culminates with a trip to Denver for the bands’ second-annual Oogie Boogie Halloween celebration at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom.
The tour opens on October 11th in Pittsburgh at the Thunderbird Cafe & Music Hall and hits plenty of Heartland hotspots in Cleveland, Indianapolis, Louisville, and more. Vocalist Kanika Moore will appear sporadically with TAUK throughout the run of shows for some acclaimed TAUK Moore sets, including stops in Madison, WI (10/18), Detroit (10/19), St. Louis (10/22), Iowa City (10/24), Omaha (10/25), and Denver (10/28). The fact that the DopaTAUK/TAUKapod tour passes through Chicago on the same night as Phish (10/13) is no coincidence, with the pair staging an afterparty following Phish’s first of three shows at the United Center.
The run comes to a thrilling conclusion with a two-night Halloween party at Cervantes in Denver. Dubbed “Oogie Boogie Nights”, the concerts will see Dopapod and TAUK trade headlining duties and lead a lineup featuring Doom Flamingo, Shwarma, Dandu, DJ Mongo, and DJ Sleepy, in addition to a Boogie Nights soundtrack super jam each night.
As Dopapod pointed out in a social media post, the two bands have a storied musical friendship. The cream rising to the top of the 2010s jam band scene, Dopapod and TAUK have rubbed shoulders on festival lineups for well over a decade and toured together as far back as 2014. In addition to countless sit-ins, the bands have collaborated on all-star tribute sets, superjams, and myriad other projects.
