Staying true to their retro synthwave-inspired sound, Doom Flamingo has shared their latest single, “Somebody”, which is accompanied by an official lyric video.

The song is a fitting Valentine’s Day release, and a testament to the band’s lighter, “flamingo” side. Guitarist and producer Thomas Kenney compared listening to the new recording to “Eating dripping wet ice cream with your girl at the beach” and “an over-sexualized Bryer’s commercial from 1986”, while saxophonist Mike Quinn sums it up simply as, “A bowl of caviar.”

Keyboardist Ross Bogan composed the dreamy, synth-laden song while vocalist Kanika Moore penned the lyrics which describe a “magical being” or “sweet little alien” that comes “Into your life & [turns] your world right-side up.”

It’s “A song to listen to in the car on the way to see your lover,” added Moore.

The lyric video is the byproduct of a collaboration marrying painstakingly-selected retro edits from a friend of the band, Dylan Dawkins (Persona La Ave), with additional footage provided by drummer and videographer Stu White.
