On Saturday night, October 13th, hip-hop superstar Drake welcomed some extremely high-profile help during the second show of his ongoing three-night run at Staples Center in Los Angeles as part of his Aubrey and the Three Migos Tour. That arena, for those unfamiliar with sports, is the home of L.A.’s two professional basketball teams, the Clippers and the Lakers, the latter of which won big this past summer by signing LeBron James, who is widely considered to be the best player on the planet.
LeBron will play his first regular season game as a Laker this Thursday, October 18th in Portland, OR, followed by his first official game at Staples Center in purple and gold on Saturday, October 20th. However, ahead of his first season calling Staples Center home, LeBron James took an early opportunity to soak up some L.A. limelight when joined Drake and rapper Travis Scott onstage to help them through a rendition of Scott’s hit “SICKO MODE”, which features uncredited guest vocals from Drake.
As Drake warned from the LED stage, “I told you, you know when I come to L.A., we always gotta take it to that next level. So I hope and pray that each and every one of you in this building got some energy left ‘cus you gon’ mothaf*ckin’ need it for this, let’s go!”
The crowd roared with approval as the beat from “SICKO MODE” came over the PA and Drake proceeded to deliver his opening lines on the song. As Travis Scott’s first verse approached, the crowd cheered once again as Scott himself ran onstage to perform it on cue. Moments later, James bounced onto the stage as well, playing hype man as the rappers finished out the song.
