After a celebrated 2022 debut, the Earl Scruggs Music Festival will return to Mill Springs, NC for a bluegrass ballyhoo on September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2023. The second edition of the festival honoring the bluegrass forefather and North Carolina native will bring illustrious luminaries and rising voices to the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Heading the lineup is Americana icon Emmylou Harris joined by modern jamgrass staples Greensky Bluegrass and The Infamous Stringdusters. The latter progressive bluegrass disciples are doing their homework in preparation for Earl Scruggs Music Festival, with the band preparing A Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs for release on April 21st.
Living bluegrass legend Del McCoury will also perform with his solo band on the artist roster that features Tony Trischka’s Tribute to Earl, Della Mae, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Jake Blount, Sister Sadie, Twisted Pine, Jon Stickley Trio, and many more. Jerry Douglas will serve as host and artist-at-large all weekend in addition to performing with his longtime collaborators The Earls of Leicester and The Jerry Douglas Band.
Presented in partnership between WNCW and the Earl Scruggs Center, the Earl Scruggs Music Festival highlights the lasting impact the seminal bluegrass musician has had on modern roots music. The festival showcases a mix of long-established artists and exciting up-and-comers, all within the bucolic region that inspired the continuing traditions of mountain music. The Tyron International Equestrian Center is an expansive multi-purpose facility that hosts year-round events and offers on-site lodging, dining, and other amenities.
