Earlier today, festivities at The Festy in Arrington, VA were brought to a halt after a propane tank exploded on a funnel cake truck on the festival ground, causing a fire that spread to engulf adjacent food trucks, according to witness reports.

Newsplex, the local CBS affiliate station, has reported that one person was taken to the UVA Medical Center for injuries, although the person’s condition was not disclosed. Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Chief Curtis Sheets ambulances and fire trucks were already on the scene at the festival and able to respond to the fire right away.

The Festy reached out to its audience via Facebook, advising attendees to return to their campsites while the situation was being assessed. They recently posted an update saying that the performances would recommence at 4 with Elephant Revival at the Blue Ridge Bowl stage, which is separate from the main festival grounds where the explosion occurred.

Emergency Services continue to assess the damage. We’ll update you as more information becomes available. We hope everyone on site in Arrington is safe!
