During a performance in Seattle, WA earlier this month, Peter Frampton welcomed local heroes Mike McCready and Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam to join him on a live cover of Soundgarden‘s “Black Hole Sun” dedicated to late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and his family.

Frampton, McCready, and Cameron were all well-acquainted with Cornell and his work during the singer’s life. McCready and Cameron notably collaborated with Cornell as part of the short-lived late-90s project, Temple of the Dog, a precursor to the successful careers of both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Peter Frampton, a longtime friend and fan of Cornell’s, Frampton also notably reimagined “Black Hole Sun” as a bluesy instrumental on his Grammy Award-winning 2006 album, Fingerprints. The recording on the album also features both McCready and Cameron. Frampton also performed the song live with Cornell on various occasions occasions.
