PBS’s animated digital video series Blank On Blank captures historical moments, retelling them through a colorful animation style. For the latest installment of their series, Blank On Blank picked on a 45-year-old interview with Frank Zappa, conducted by Howard Smith at Zappa’s New York hotel room.

As we recently discussed, the interview was conducted around the time that Zappa played the Fillmore East venue in NYC, with a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration with John LennonWatch that footage here.

The interview itself talks about music, the Women’s Liberation Movement, and how women wouldn’t be able to fit in with what Zappa was doing with their music. You can watch the enjoyable animated short, titled “Frank Zappa on Fads,” below.

Don’t miss Cosmik Playground’s tribute to Frank Zappa on July 3rd, immediately following Phish’s SPAC performance at the nearby Putnam Den. Percussionist and long-time Zappa band member Ed Mann will be joined by keyboardist Todd Stoops (RAQ), guitarist Marcus Rezak (Digital Tape Machine), drummer Scotty Zwang (Dopapod), bassist Dan Lotito and special guest guitarist Gabriel Marin (Consider the Source), as well as Nyack, NY prog-funk rockers Shwizz for what is sure to be a great night of music!
