Funk fans everywhere will be able to tune in to a livestream of The Funk Sessions: MJ vs Stevie at Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom this Saturday, April 17th at 10:00 p.m. MT via Mandolin. For more information or to secure your ticket, head to FunkSessions.com.

The one-night-only homage to the music of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson will feature one-half of Grammy-nominated future-funk juggernaut Lettuce (drummer Adam Deitch, guitarist Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff, and trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom) in addition to enigmatic bassist MonoNeon (Prince, Ghost-Note) and funky keyboardist Deshawn “D’Vibes” Alexander (Watermelon Funk).

Announced on Tuesday, the donation-based MJ vs Stevie livestream will raise funds to benefit the recent Boulder mass shooting victims and their families via the Colorado Healing Fund. In the aftermath of mass violence, victims need immediate and long-term support. Colorado Healing Fund (CHF) provides a secure way to donate to victims of these tragedies. They work with victim service partners to identify victim needs and fill the gaps in financial resources. Five percent of each donation will support CHF operations. In addition, Live For Live Music has pledged to match up to $10,000 in donations toward the CHF’s cause. Donate any amount to secure your stream ticket here.

Throughout 2019 and into early 2020, Live For Live Music and Cervantes’ The Funk Sessions grew into a beloved tradition in the Denver music scene, bringing together the best of the best from across the live music spectrum for monthly funk throw-downs. With the world gradually reopening, The Funk Sessions returned in socially distant fashion for all-star blowouts in February and March of this year.
