A Liverpool, England home where George Harrison grew up is now listed for auction. The founding Beatles guitarist moved into the residence at six years old.
Nestled in the suburb of Speke, just eight miles from the Liverpool city center, the three-bedroom house at 25 Upton Green, served as Harrison’s family home for 12 years. During this time Harrison would meet the other two founding members of The Beatles, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney. Here at Upton Green, Harrison learned to play the guitar and staged band rehearsals before he and his family moved out as The Beatles rose to international stardom.

“During this period the house became a regular rehearsal venue for The Quarrymen and then latterly The Beatles,” reads the auction description. “There are numerous pictures of George inside and outside the property.”
Though his childhood home has undergone a complete renovation, including a hallway, lounge, kitchen, dining room, and rear garden, many fixtures from Harrison’s time there remain, including “the bath, sink, some original doors, hanging rails in wardrobes and outbuildings complete with original doors and decor.” Additionally, “the vendor will also be including a large kitchen dresser unit that was found in the outbuildings and would have originally been in the kitchen when George and his family lived there.”

Last sold to a Beatles fan in 2014 for £156,000, Omega Auctions expects the Liverpool home to fetch at least 20% more, around $216,000-$270,000, upon its November 30th closing. The listing suggests that the new owner may apply for a Blue Plaque—a designator given to famous locations in the U.K.—which McCartney and Lennon’s childhood homes both have.
