Ghost Light Debuts Tame Impala Cover At Portland's Wonder Ballroom [Videos]

Ghost Light continued its west coast fall tour on Saturday with a performance at Portland, OR’s Wonder Ballroom. The night’s two-set performance featured a mix of covers from the five-piece rock outfit, including their live debut of a Tame Impala fan favorite.

The band opened the first half of Saturday’s show with their take on Bob Dylan‘s “Tangled Up in Blue”. The music continued right into “Synth Driver”, a tune out of guitarist Tom Hamilton‘s American Babies songbook. From there, the music grooved into Ghost Light’s debut cover of Tame Impala‘s psych-rock hit “The Less I Know the Better”. The first set rolled on without any break as the band returned to “Tangles Up in Blue” before transitioning into the first Ghost Light original of the night with “Isosceles”. The nonstop set of music came to an end with the closing of “Synth Driver” to send the show into set break.

The band returned to the stage to open the second half of the show with American Babies’ “Old Time Religion”. Like the first half, the second set didn’t include a single rest between songs as the band charged forward with performances of “Simple Gift of Man”, “Keep Your Hands to Yourself”, The Band‘s “Lead Weight”, and finally closing with “Swimming At Night” and the completion of “Simple Gift of Man”. The show’s one-song encore saw the band send fans home with their take on Suzi Quatro‘s “The Wild One”.
