As countless concerts, tours, and festivals announced their cancellations due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) on Thursday, U.K. mega-festival Glastonbury revealed the lineup for its 50th-anniversary event in 2020, set to take place on June 24th–28th at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.
In addition to previously-announced headliners Paul McCartney and Diana Ross, the 2020 Glastonbury lineup announcement includes Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Brittany Howard, Cage The Elephant, Camila Cabello, Charli XCX, Danny Brown, Caribou, Dua Lipa, Fatboy Slim, FKA Twigs, Herbie Hancock, The Isley Brothers, Kacey Musgraves, Khruangbin, Lana Del Rey, Laura Marling, Robyn, Rufus Wainwright, Snarky Puppy, Thom Yorke, Thundercat, and many more.
The announcement also notes that many more artists and attractions are set to be announced across a whopping 100 stages as Glastonbury draws closer.
While the COVID-19 pandemic could still be ongoing by late June, U.K. chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance has predicted that the virus will hit its peak in the country a week or two prior to the scheduled Glastonbury dates.
According to The Guardian, “Emily Eavis, who heads Glastonbury festival along with her father Michael, said they were still ‘working hard’ to deliver it, and were announcing the lineup ‘after much consideration given the current circumstances, and with the best of intentions … No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!'”
Cheeky move, Glastonbury. We dig the confidence and will be crossing our fingers that it all works out.
