Following the band’s debut at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on Thursday, Goose returned on Friday and Saturday to cap off the milestone weekend with a gaggle of April Fools’ fun.

The band kept things relatively straightforward on Friday, opening with a sprawling “Turbulence & The Night Rays” by proto-Goose project Vasudo. After ‘Dr. Darkness” and “The Whales”, Goose dug up a cover of “AUATC” by Bon Iver. “Elizabeth” and “Not Alone” then gave way to a lengthy 26-minute “Arrow” jam to close the first set. Set two was bookended by extended jams on “Hungersite” and “Rosewood Heart”, with a trio of “Feel It Now”, “Bob Don”, and “Drive” in the center, and “The Empress of Organos” took the encore slot.

Goose got silly on night three at The Ryman, which happened to fall on April Fools Day. The band members took the stage for the first song, “Jive Lee”, dressed as each other and played each other’s instruments, with Peter Anspach on bass, Rick Mitarotonda on drums, Trevor Weekz on guitar, Ben Atkind on percussion, and Jeff Arevalo on keys, with each member dressed as the corresponding instrumentalist. Saturday’s setlist included “Lead Up”, which Goose debuted at the band’s Capitol Theatre run in March, a vibey “Tumble” comprised of the regular composed section and jam lasting almost 22 minutes, and a jammed out cover of The Band‘s “Don’t Do It”.
