Borderland Festival kicked off on Friday with headline performances by Goose and Dawes and the two bands joined forces for an unforgettable collaboration on Goose’s “Rosewood Heart”.

The surprise collab came during Goose’s primetime set as the indie-groove quintet welcomed brothers Taylor Goldsmith (guitar and vocals) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums). Goose’s multitalented percussionist Jeff Arevalo joined Rick Mitarotonda and Taylor Goldsmith on guitar, ceding his percussion throne to Griffin.

Though the song’s complex harmonies made for a few moments of unintended dissonance, the pair proved to be a potent combination, with the Goldsmith brothers melding seamlessly into the fold while taking the performance to the next level energetically. The Oddysean musical journey stretched past 25 minutes yet never lacked momentum as the seven-piece navigated its peaks and valleys with masterful precision.
