Fans of ever-rising CT-based indie groove outfit Goose woke up to a pleasant surprise this morning with the the release of the Night Lights EP. The five-song offering, released at midnight, features four previously-released songs from the last eighteen months as well as a new studio cut of “Yeti”.
The five songs featured on the EP—”All I Need”, “Time to Flee”, “Butter Rum”, “Wysteria Lane”, and “Yeti”—were chosen for sentimental reasons. The latter four songs all come from the catalogs of bands that pre-date Goose which featured the band’s members. “Wysteria Lane” and “Butter Rum” were first performed by Vasudo, which included drummer Ben Atkind, guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, and bassist Trevor Weekz. “Yeti” and “Time to Flee”, on the other hand, came from guitarist/keyboardist Peter Anspach‘s project, Great Blue. Then there’s “All I Need”, which is all Goose.

These polished studio recordings come four years after the band’s previous—as well as their first—multi-song studio offering, Moon Cabin. Though only one of the songs is new to streaming services—and far from new to fans that have been following the band’s live performances—their cohesive arrangement and release signals some more studio activity on the horizon for Goose.
“These 5 songs are such a great representation of the history of Goose, with most of the tunes hailing from previous bands around the Wilton music scene,” Anspach said. “We are very stoked to wrap them all up as an EP and set the stage for our next full-length record.”
